Tilly

In September 2013, Tawana rescued a dog named Tilly, who soon after tested positive for a severe case of canine distemper. For two months, she tried everything to save her, from conventional treatments recommended by four different veterinarians to alternative therapies like herbs, superfoods and massage. She even underwent a special surgery in Houston.

Despite these efforts, Tilly’s condition worsened. She became paralyzed, her head tilted at an unnatural angle, and she began biting - a distressing sign of the disease's final stage. At her lowest point, she couldn't drink on her own and had to be syringe-fed liquids. With Tilly suffering so much, Tawana was heartbroken and preparing to have her put down.

A new approach finally turned things around. Drawing on her studies in homeopathy from Bastyr University, Tawana decided to analyze Tilly's unique symptoms to find a specific homeopathic remedy. Tawana chose Baryta Carb in a 200C potency. The change was astonishingly quick. Soon after receiving the single dose, she stood up and walked to her water bowl to drink. Every day brought more progress, and within 15 days, she was moving, eating and drinking normally again. The rapid improvement was unlike anything Tawana had ever seen.

About a month later, her skin became dry and flaky. Instead of treating it, Tawana decided to let her body run its course, believing it was part of a detoxifying process. The flakiness disappeared a few weeks later. In just six weeks, Tilly was completely cured.

Today, Tilly is a vibrant, healthy dog with no lingering effects of her illness. This experience, along with Tawana’s three decades of studying and using homeopathy, has taught her to trust its healing power and to prioritize it above other methods.

Pepper

Pepper

When the little Shih Tzu was rescued from a Dallas animal shelter on June 22, 2001, he was a picture of misery.  Matted hair, fleas, and ticks covered his small body, but nothing was as shocking as the burns on his back. His skin was black, hard, and weeping pus. Two veterinarians confirmed the skin damage was intentional, likely caused by acid or fire.

Tawana has always had a soft spot for the underdogs, the ones facing long odds. This little dog's pain called to her, and she knew he was meant to be with her. She named him Pepper and began his long, uncertain road to recovery, foolishly committed to a path others would call a gamble.

The true challenge came on July 4th, when Pepper collapsed. Diagnosed with the fatal neurological disease GME, his prognosis was grim. The prescribed steroids couldn't stop the decline, and he returned home barely clinging to life - unable to walk, bark, or control his shaking body.

Unwilling to surrender, Tawana drew inspiration from an unusual source. A cancer survivor's story about fasting and a raw diet gave her an idea. For eleven days, she cleaned Pepper's system with water administered by a syringe. He gradually regained energy and, after the fast, began to eat again. She switched him to an all-organic, raw food diet, supplemented with vegetables, raw hamburger, and a special animal powder. With the addition of a homeopathic remedy, Tawana watched Pepper's strength slowly return. By July 16th, he began dragging himself with his front legs, but his back legs stayed motionless.

The need for a new way forward was clear. A chance encounter with a dog massage therapist opened the door to another modality: acupressure and massage. Her hopes were rewarded weeks later when Pepper stood and walked on all four legs. Running around and barking, Pepper was now full of life.

Pepper's miraculous turnaround defies all odds. The holistic combination of fasting, diet, supplements, homeopathy, and massage therapy defeated a disease veterinarians deemed fatal.

Pepper was more than just a pet; he's a testament to hope. His once-burned fur was now full and shiny, and his transformation amazed his vet. Pepper lived a full and healthy life for more than five years.

As a proud member of Tawana’s family, Pepper wore a Harley Davidson collar, a symbol of his hard-won freedom and a life that was saved through compassion and a refusal to give up.

Pepper was truly a miracle dog.

Bitsy

Bitsy

For months, Bitsy was little more than a ghost, a fleeting shadow on the streets that disappeared whenever a rescuer got too close. Starving and terrified, she evaded every attempt at capture. Then, just as suddenly as she had vanished, she reappeared in the same spot, thin and wary. This time, an animal rescuer was ready. They successfully trapped the frightened dog, beginning her long road to recovery.

As Bitsy healed, it became clear she faced long odds for adoption. Her black coat, an unfair bias in the adoption world, already made her less visible. But an even more serious issue threatened her future: she suffered from severe, uncontrolled incontinence, leaving puddles of urine day and night.

At just over a year old, Bitsy had already endured significant trauma. X-rays revealed a bullet lodged in her body, a permanent relic of her past life. Fortunately, tissue had grown around the bullet, so it was not the source of her issues. However, an exploratory surgery on her bladder performed by two veterinarians yielded no answers, and a third vet confirmed there was nothing neurologically wrong with her. The cause of her constant peeing remained a mystery. Another peculiar symptom was a persistent limp and a back leg that would lift oddly when she lay down.

With conventional medicine proving ineffective, hope dwindled. Traditional medication for incontinence failed to bring relief, leaving Bitsy uncomfortable and constantly wet, with doggie diapers offering no help. Faced with the possibility of being unadoptable, her rescuer explored an alternative path: homeopathy.

After extensive research, a single homeopathic remedy was selected based on Bitsy's specific symptoms, including her unusual foot posture. The results were immediate and astounding. The constant incontinence stopped completely, and for six months, Bitsy was finally well.

The two defining symptoms - the peeing and the odd foot posture - eventually returned. Again, a single dose of the same homeopathic remedy was administered, and the symptoms vanished. When they returned two years later, another dose repeated the miracle, making it clear that homeopathy was the key to managing her condition.

Bitsy's story reached Tawana, who saw beyond the challenges to the loving dog beneath. She was no longer a ghost but a cherished member of a family. Bitsy has since passed but in her forever home, she slept happily in bed with her mom, a testament to how the right care - and a little bit of homeopathic medicine - can save a life and create a happy ending.

Precious

Precious

In August 2010, Precious was rescued from the City of Dallas Animal Shelter. She was in distress, with bulging eyes and a tendency to bite, and appeared to be in pain from an injury. However, multiple veterinary exams and x-rays revealed no physical injuries. An animal behaviorist determined her aggressive behavior was inherent rather than a result of abuse, a common misconception.

Precious's condition worsened, and she began showing signs of meningitis. Her aggression intensified, and she developed a distinctive pattern of circling to the left. Her eyes remained bulging, with the left eye noticeably turned outward. While Tawana was away, Precious' foster mom took her to an allopathic veterinarian, who prescribed steroids for her symptoms.

Upon returning, Tawana found Precious in poor health. Concerned that the steroids would exacerbate her aggression, she slowly weaned her off the medication. Drawing on her homeopathy training from a naturopathic school, Tawana studied Precious's case and identified a potential homeopathic remedy. This was confirmed by a homeopathic veterinarian.

Initially, Precious's recovery was slow. Then, an immediate and dramatic transformation occurred. Her personality brightened, and she began acting like a normal, playful dog. Tawana found it remarkable that a medical text accurately matched Precious's specific physical and mental symptoms - including meningitis, circling, bulging eyes, and aggression - with a specific homeopathic medicine.

Precious remained a healthy, normal dog. While still having a feisty personality, her aggressive tendencies and physical symptoms, including the bulging and crossed left eye resolved. Tawana adopted Precious, who became a permanent member of her family of pets.

Joleen
Joleen

In April 2018, a one-year-old shepherd mix named Joleen was rescued off the streets of Dallas. Having likely endured a lifetime of abuse, she was deeply afraid of humans.

Her fear was so severe that when she was taken from her safe room to be near a person, her body would tense, her eyes would dart wildly, and she would defecate. This terror made it necessary for her rescuer to use a trap to capture her.

For over a year, Joleen would not bark, and noise made her extremely nervous.

She avoided interaction, staying in a corner even when other dogs were playing, and showed no pleasure when people tried to pet her.

Between April 2018 and January 2020, Joleen received various homeopathic treatments. Two medicines led to significant improvements. The first, Crotalus Cascavella at 200C potency, helped her become more curious, eat in front of her human, and tolerate other dogs sniffing her. However, the key to her cure was Argentum Nitricum, a remedy known for treating fear leading to defecation.

Joleen was given Argentum Nitricum three times. The first dose of 200C potency showed no real change. The second, a 1M potency, brought notable progress: she began barking, seemed calmer, and started approaching her rescuer.

The final and curative dose was a 10M potency, which resulted in a complete breakthrough. Her fear vanished, and on January 18, 2020, she became a normal, happy dog, finally playing with others and showing affection.

Homeopathic treatments helped Joleen. Today, Tawana is profoundly thankful for Joleen and her journey, a testament to an amazing transformation.

Tawana's recommendations are intended as helpful resources for a healthy lifestyle. You should always consult your doctor before starting any new diet or health program.

Do not use homeopathic medicines with antibiotics, steroids or cancer drugs. Homeopathic medicines are best taken by themselves.
